Yeah, I thought perhaps my timeline was so empty because there weren't any feed items getting pushed to it anymore, but usage does seem rather light. :( The lack of the mobile site is the worst change.
Funnily enough activity on Jaiku is much higher than normal. Try watching the Explore page. A likely reason your Jaiku frontpage looks slow is because of this bug: http://code.google.com/p/jaikuengine/issues/detail?id=33 which means you're not seeing activity by your contacts in channels.
I touched on Java a few years ago, then ran away screaming. PHP I'm really liking and have used a fair bit over the past few years, but haven't ever actually learnt it properly (until now). CSS is wonderful (and a total bastard). That's my strongest point.
Oh cool. I had considered the OU courses, but just wasn't sure that the web stuff they had quite suited me. A friend has been doing an OU degree in engineering for quite a while now. Looks fairly well laid out.
Java and PHP are both evil, yet I'm forced to use the latter for most of the web seems to have an affinity to it. Bah I say! As for Jaiku dying, they take away feeds and also restrict the number of times I can post per minute to basically 1 comment per minute, otherwise I get slapped with a "Too many attempts"
@Edy It hurts me to see Jaiku in this state. I've met so many wonderful people here, some of which I consider very close friends but it's badly broken right now and if things don't improve soon a lot of people are going to give up entirely, myself included.
In the morning I used to have to page through 6 or 7 pages of posts to catch up with everything since I left work the previous day. Now I'm caught up midway through the third page.
Right now Jaiku seems to work quite well. Haven't seen the bird or any errors today. Unfortunately the move and initial problems were the last straw to many Finnish jaikuers.
For me, Qaiku is almost too active. Luckily they've implemented thread unsubscribe link. ;)

The migration has really killed it for me. Jaikungfu no longer works, nor does the Mobile client, and feeds are gone. Good job Google.

@jezlyn right! I knew I was forgetting something. No Mdot and no mobile client means I can't use it on the go. Other than ping.fm updates.

@jezlyn Yup. I can no longer read or post to Jaiku at lunch or on breaks at work. I'm sure there are a ton of others who did the same as I.

I'm still here and post via mobile phone + Opera + full site.
Move caused many little but very anoying problems so I don't wonder why people are leaving.
Most of the Finns are in Qaiku but it'd sad to loose this international group of friends :-(.
